My 9 days 7 nights in China - Day 3

Day3 (3 Dec 2009):

It's another brand new morning in Shanghai. It's still cold outside, but I didn't hide myself indoor, and decided to walk outside our hotel after breakfast, to watch the life of people in Shanghai.

Their telephone booths are much much better than Malaysia's.

Went for sightseeing and to take some photos around the Shanghai Government Office.

China's police car=]

The street cleaner machine. I can't see zero rubbish along the road. Their city are soo clean.

After that, we proceed to visit the Pixiu Museum (貔貅). The museum guide also told us the way to touch a Pixiu. He also warned us that we can only touch Pixiu's head, mustache, legs and body, but not it's eyes and mouth. According to him, Pixiu's eyes is to avoid bad spirits and it's mouth is in charge of wealth, so we must not touch both parts.

Pixiu can be seen around the places in Shanghai because they really believe in it. Most of the them will place a pair of Pixiu in front of their buildings to avoid bad spirits.

We also bought a Pixiu each according to our character and birth date. He also gave each of us some advise in our character. I think he is really a professional Feng Shui practitioner because what he said is really correct about my family members and myself. It's hard to deny...

We had lunch in a restaurant nearby. And I saw some funny thing which I would like to share about. I found out that the restaurant in China do serves corn as one of the dishes, and the taste is just the same like the cup corn.

We started our 2 hours journey to Suzhou (蘇州) after our lunch. We drop by at the Suzhou Science and Cultural Arts Center (蘇州科技文化藝術中心). The building was so beautiful which looks alike the Beijing's Bird Nest. This has a variety of functions such as grand theatre, performance hall, Cineplex, commercial centre, art exhibition halls, gardens etc.

The lake beside...

Around 2pm, we arrive at the Suzhou Museum (蘇州博物館). The street outside the museum was very beautiful with those traditional shops along it.

The museum contraction's are amazing. I love the design with the combination of traditional and modern.

This museum has many collection, most of it are ancient Chinese paintings ceramics, crafts, unearthed relics, revolution relics and caligraphies. As what I saw, most the collections are from Ming and Song Dynasty.

This is the garden of Suzhou Museum. The environment is very very nice and comfortable, love it=)

Another part of the Suzhou Museum.

Actually, we didn't had much time to really really visit all the places, that is what we called 走馬看花.
Then, we went to the famous garden in Suzhou, the Couple's Retreat Garden (偶園). It is a very big garden with a East Garden and a West Garden, which is formerly a house in many years ago.

This red maple tree is so beautiful. I even took some of the leaves(on the ground) back to Malaysia=)

We took a boat ride back to outside. The aunty who rowed the boat also sang some country songs which I can't understand.=="

When dinner, we tried the famous Hairy Crab (大閘蟹 or 上海毛蟹) in SuZhou. Oishi!!

After dinner, we went for a short shopping in GuanQian Street (觀前街), SuZhou before the day ends=P
